CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) concerns every organisation, irrespective of its size, and is an integral part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). All companies have an obligation towards the environment and society. Improved natural resource management can lead to reduced environmental impact and a reduction in pollutant emissions and waste, creating what are known as “win-win” opportunities for both the environment and the companies.
Our goal is to minimise the impact of our activities on the environment. The actions we implement range from simple, such as applying resource and energy saving techniques, to more complex ones, such as actions targeting waste management.
More specifically:
Waste recycling: We implement a waste recycling strategy. We promote recycling in the workplace by installing special paper and aluminium collection bins.
Energy consumption: We make an effort to rationalise energy consumption of any type. In terms of electricity, mainly at the Company offices, we use cost-effective light bulbs and the latest technology energy efficiency class A+ devices.
Partnerships with environmentally conscious companies/associates: We select vendors that have adopted corporate social and environmental responsibility policies.
Waste management: Including excavation and demolition waste and disposal materials. We implement a comprehensive hazardous and non-hazardous waste management policy, in line with environmental management systems. For example, we make an effort to incorporate excavation products into the project site where they were excavated, or use them to restore any affected areas and landscapes from other Company projects. We handle demolition products in the same manner, planning the demolition phases around the building materials of the structure that is to be demolished and their potential use. In all our projects, licensed operators/contractors handle the collection, transport and disposal of waste, always in accordance with national and European regulations. Non-recyclable waste is forwarded for handling to special authorised operators, which always issue and submit the relevant waste management certificates, based on the applicable laws.
Moreover, we implement awareness-raising programmes for the Company personnel to provide information on environmental issues and promote the concept of personal responsibility in relation to the environment and society.
